Take the plunge

Take the plunge

A Poem by Nurhanne Hassan

Drown, drown till the furthermore
Till the ghosts can't see you anymore
They've been your sole neighbors so far
And yet you got this far
Everyone masters the art of letting go
Yet you have to master holding on
Your heart, as thick as pie crust
Burns holes through their walls
Distorts their twisted goals
Brace yourself for the fall
You had your share of it all
And now it's time to drown
Drown till the furthermore
Till pain can't catch up with you anymore
Because you both stopped running to catch up
To embrace, to become one
You are your him and he is you
He can't touch you unless you allow him to
So hold your breath and take the plunge
Underwater, you are not safe
But you are one.
