Six

Six

A Poem by Nurhanne Hassan

More than six months
That's how much you should wait
To know if he's not just a crush
But I didn't wait for six months
I knew from day one
From conversation number one
That's when he planted those flowers in my heart
Threw those stars in my eyes
Drew sunshine on the paper that is my life
That's when I knew that loving him was an art
That I really have a counterpart
That's when I knew that I had to do anything
And everything
To cut my heart out and throw it back at you
Only to realize that you didn't catch it
That it was sucked into vacuum
And exploded into splinters
At the mere words your lips uttered
Not in six months or more
It only took you six seconds
To tell me that you love her

I really like the end of the poem. I think you could turn this into a pretty cool song.
