Happy Parent’s Day

Happy Parent’s Day

A Poem by Carlton Rolle

Like cockroaches, they come out only to eat from us.

Steal us from our money.

Quotes us prices and sell unrealistic dreams on the thought of love.

Of obligations.

Of rested nights and panicked days.

This token, yet small and expensive.

Makes you forget the worthless things.

Makes you feel you’ve done something so great, so powerful.

But only today.

And only in this way do we begin to realize that it’s nothing.

Nothing but hopes someone injected into us years before.

Hi Carl,I dont consider myself fit to reveiw a work, but I can say,I have re-read this poem a number of times.I think, the perception has been exceptional here.To be out of yourself, and have a look at yourself,is in my eyes, quite difficult and therefore, commendable.Great going!
