Chasing Your Ghost

Chasing Your Ghost

Bet you don’t think I still do this

But I still do

I only write about what I miss

And that is you

I flew away from the cold weather

Went back to where we were together

Despite the distance, I was still tethered to you

Since you’re not around, I want to leave this town

But instead I just keep jotting you down

No words I write will bring you back

Still I try

I paint a picture with words to replace what I lack

Can’t say good-bye

I imagine sending you all these letters

Would you reading them make me feel better?

Each one is a whisper that I still love you

I want to be okay, to give my heart a break

But instead I keep writing your name

I’m still chasing your ghost, hunting you with my pen

Praying for the day that we will meet again

I write about the hurting and how you’re not home

I’m still chasing your ghost through my tears and my poems.
