With Their Sadness Comes a Glow

With Their Sadness Comes a Glow

A Poem by Zachary Jude
"

The complexities of healing.

"

I am starting to numb

Bursts of agony lessen

Still the tears flow and come

Better despair than the emptiness within

I feel myself drifting from your mind

And slowly, you’re drifting too

That’s not what I want, you’re supposed to be mine

And though I say I do, I don’t want to let go of you

It’s the memories, I know

They pull and tug and hold me back

But with their sadness comes a glow

A joy and comfort my future lacks

The day by the lake with your sister and friends

Or the late-night trips for snacks and ice cream

My eyes blur as each memory ends

And there are so many, my world’s agleam

There are countless more, so ample and vast

Maybe I’m not ready to heal so fast.
