Thief

Thief

A Poem by Zachary Jude
"

written 11/8/19

"
You are a thief
Unwitting
Unknowing
Uncaring

I was to be an uncle
One day, your husband
A father to our kids
You stole that from me

18 months of bliss
18 months of memories
18 months of planning
A future of journeying by your side

You stole that from me, too

But for 18 months, you gave
You gave me laughter
You gave me hope
You taught me how to love
And be loved

You are a thief
And also a giver

I mourn for both.
