Lost LoveA Poem by So Sick of Lovesomething for englishI sit on a bench in our favorite park. Watching the apple red and bright orange, autumn leaves spiral down beside me. Remembering the time we came here at dark. Remembering the time we walked under our favorite oak tree. Remembering the time you carved our initials in the tree bark. I looked over and saw an old married couple hugging each other. I remembered the promise you made when you held me in your arms. Saying we will always be lovers. Or that you will never do me harm. As I remember our times together, I felt the tears run down my face, like water flowing down a stream. I thought we were going to be together forever. I guess it was all a dream. For fate played a cruel joke on us on that tragic night. The night you were supposed to come over but never made it. Hearing the news made my chest go tight. Knowing I will never again hear your cute laugh, funny jokes, or clever wit. Why did you have to die? Do you know how much I miss you? Do you know how much I cried? Do you know your death broke my heart in two? Even though we are apart, I will always remember the times we spent together. For you will always be in my heart. As I sit on the bench, I look up at the sky and whisper, “I love you, forever and always.” © 2011 So Sick of LoveAuthor's Note
