Pain : Walking In My ShoesA Chapter by Christina Ann Banana HamokAutumn and Aiko learn more about each other, by spending time at one anothers house. As they walked down the street Autumn looked nervously at Aiko "I can't believe your parents forgot to pick you up" Aiko kicked a rock as she walked along the sidewalk "Yeah, well it ain't the first time and probably won't be the last" Autumn nodded her head, not in agreement but just trying to figure it out. She's heard rumors, lots and lots of rumors about Aiko; she of all people should know that rumors can not be trusted as a reliable souce of information. "Thanks for having me over though" Aiko said as she looked striaght a head, trying not to look at Autumn. "No problem, my mom is never home and I don't want you to walk half ways across town" Aiko shrugged and placed her hands in her back pockets. When they reached Autumns house Aiko spied a car that looked as if it were parked for eons, "Why don't you just drive to school, instead of walking?" "Seems kinda pointless I suppose" Autumn pushed the door open and flicked on a light "Whoah" Aiko said as she looked around the house amazed, Autumn looked at her amused "It's not that amazing" she said sarcastically. Aiko laughed as she picked up a small figurine of an elf "To me it is, I haven't seen my house cleaned in over two years" she delicatly placed it back on the desk by the door. Autumn disappeared through a door way into the kitchen, and she followed feeling akward in someone eles's home. "Hungry?" she asked Aiko, "Mom left a note saying she'll be gone for a couple days and that there's money on my bed" Aiko spun around in a slow circle looking at all the decorations on the walls "What about your dad?" she asked "Well, ummm..." Autumn fumbled with her hands "He died in a car crash 7 months ago" "Oh, I'm sorry" Aiko said as she watched her drop her bag on the table "It's fine I'm use to it by now" Aiko looked at her suspiciously but didn't say anything more. The girls made their way upstairs to Autumns' room "Wholey s**t!" Aiko practically yelled picking up the wad of money on the bed counting it "Does your mom usually always leave five hundred dollars on your bed when she leaves" Autumn looked at her suprised "That's it?" Autumn asked going through a dresser drawer. Aiko's eyes buldged "Your kidding me right" "No" she replied in a sweet voice. Aiko let out a gasp and plopped down on the bed "Wow" was all that she could manage to say. Autumn simply shrugged, "Do you wanna go grab some Pizza Hut and I can drive you home" Aiko simply just nodded and followed Autumn outside to the car. As they pulled out of the drive way to Pizza Hut Aiko gave her directions to her house. Autumn took in the neighborhood, it seemed good enough the houses and yards were well kept it was peaceful; that is until you reached the end of the road, there stood a house that was falling apart and the lawn looked like it had never been touched years. Aiko opened up the door and closed her eyes in frustration as she heard shouts emiting from the house "I don't think I can invite you in at the moment" Autumn nodded in understanding as she watched Aiko walke up to the door and disappear behind it, just as she was about to pull away she noticed her bag that was laying on the passenger side floor. When Aiko closed the door behind her, there were hands around her throat and she was looking in to the mad eyes of her father. "Where the hell have you been you little b***h" he spat at her face "Huh? And who the f**k was driving you home?" he sqeezed a little tighter around her neck and pushed her against the door. "Just a friend from school" she answered in a rasp, "A friend huh? Well, is your little friend going to go home and tell their mommy and daddy? I bet they are you worthless peice of s**t" He slapped her with his other hand. She could smell the liqour on his breath, and was that the burning aroma of methamphetamine. The sent was buring her nostriles, she held her breath in an attempt to make it stop. She looked around the room and there she saw her mother sprawled across the couch, bare naked and bleeding from the mouth it seems as though her father had 'his fun' for the night. She glared back at her father who was raising his arm as if he was going to hit her hit me you b***h she thought angrily you'd only be doing me a favor if you killed me. Suddenly Aiko felt the solid door behind her give away and both her and her father went toppling out of the door. Autumns large green eyes became even bigger as she took in the scene, Aiko paler than ever with her father's hand tight against her throat "Run" Aiko gasped, as she stared up at the shocked girl. Autumn shook her head slowly, as she slowly took small steps back wards. Then the heavy book bag went crashing on top of Aiko's father's head and his body went limp. Scrambling out from underneath the large body Aiko looked up at Autumn tears gathering in her eyes and just hugged the girl for dear life sobbing into her shoulder. Autumn hugged her back and took in the state of her house in great detail "Your staying at my house" it was more than a demand than a request. But Aiko didn't object when she led her to the car. © 2008 Christina Ann Banana HamokAuthor's Note
