Through the Rain: To Love, To Hold, To Die.A Story by Christina Ann Banana HamokShort story I wrote on January 19, 2008.The nurse ushered the young girl in she looked nervously back at the nurse. Smiling warmly she told her not to be afraid that he'll only be awake for a short while so take advantage of the time she has. The nurse walked back out the door leaving the young girl in the white, unbelievably clean room. She stared at him laying in the hospital bed. She watched his chest rise and fall with each breath and listened to the beats of his heart. After a minute or so he turned his head slowly and opened his eyes, the beeping quickened suddenly. "What're you doing here?" He rasped shocked. She walked up to the edge of the bed and stroked his face silent tears brushing down her cheeks. "They said that they didn't know what could give you motivation to keep living." She whispered "So, after hours begging I got permission" He nodded simply like he knew exactly what she was talking about. "Your going to die aren't you?" the question barely escaped her mouth. He simply looked away, anger rose up in her chest. "I won't let you die." She was practically yelling at him "You can't, we have a life to live together. It won't be too long until.." He looked up at her "I love you" he held her hand "I love you so much, thankyou" She looked back at him and squeezed his hand "I love you too, thankyou for what?" He smiled "For reminding me" Then they kissed for the first time in years. © 2008 Christina Ann Banana HamokAuthor's Note
