Darkness Settles in the Light

Darkness Settles in the Light

A Story by Snowshoe

I had written this within a 10 minute limit for my LA Class and everyone enjoyed

The growling came back, the fear was in the air and it smelled vicious. Despair filled my lungs with each breath I drew. Nothing was said or heard besides the creaking and the deep breaths from me and the bed.

“It’s back,” I thought, “It can’t be back, not now, not ever!” I slowly got up to turn on the light, worry filled my veins and caution drew from each step. As I step off the bed I feel something. Something on my foot.. I shake my foot, nothing unlatches. I run for the door only to be dragged back with the force of a strong wind and the scream of a small child being brought into the world. Unlike that child, I was being taken out of the world I had called home. It took me to the place I feared. The one I couldn’t escape. The unknowledgable darkness.
