Darkness renders the soul imobile

Darkness renders the soul imobile

A Story by Snow

Darkness renders the soul immobile. It pulls at our hearts tearing it apart until our breath ceases to be. Fear spreads throughout his body locking his joints in place. He could hear the beating of his own heart, panic clogged his lungs, and the edges of his vision began to close; darkness was moving in. He could feel the heat of breath on the back of his neck. Sweat rolled down his neck into the crevasse of his back. Footsteps echoed from the darkness. Where is it? He thought, frantically searching the darkness for glint of movement. Pain pierced his chest. Wetness blossomed, warming his cold skin. A slight tugging motion staggered him backwards. Copper bubbled in his throat and streamed into his mouth. Darkness lulled him to unconsciousness, tearing his life away. Fear of darkness and what lies inside stills our beating heart until we no longer believe in light and our soul ceases to be.
