A Bang

A Bang

A Chapter by Brooklyn

When Scarlett saw me, she stopped arguing with Mr. Jones.
"Audrey!", she exclaimed, "I was so worried!".
This made feel bad, since I haven't though of her since we got here- however we got here.
I go over and give her a hug. "Don't worry, we'll both be fine. As long as we have each other, right?" I whisper into her ear, that was covered by her bright, red hair.
I pulled away to see worry in her eyes, but she gave me a small nod.
I sat in the chair next to Scarlett, facing Edward.
Zoe had slyly sneaked out the door while I was hugging Scarlett.
"So, as I was saying your parents have in trusted me with your life and I will take care of you to my best potential." said Mr. Jones, facing Scarlett.
I guess this was the end of their argument or such.
It's was pretty obvious that they have been arguing on why are we here.
Scarlett gave a nod, surprising me. Usually she kept on fighting; she wouldn't be someone who would give up.
But I can't blame her, Mr. Jones had a very peculiar way with words. Without even knowing him that well, I have a feeling his word is usually or always final.
"So, you're probably very full of questions, but before you go spitting them out let me explain. Ok?" said Mr.Jones.
We both nodded in unison.
"I presume that you know about the Elements-Fire,Water,Air,and Earth", he started before continuing,"Well, each generation has four special people who are the Elements. When these people pass away their eldest child becomes the new element. However, when they pass away, they leave behind gems. These gems are if the new generation aren't doing their job, yet.
The Air gem takes care of weather, if someone were to stumble upon it, we would have hurricanes and tornadoes and other various weather accidents.
The Earth gem takes care of the Earth. Helping plants grow and thrive. If someone were to stumble upon it, nothing would grow. It would be like a wasteland.
The fire gem is more complicated, it controls the fierceness of a person-how brave someone is or how mentally/physically strong they are. If someone were to stumble upon it, people would be too strong or have no strength.
The water gem takes care of how gentle someone is. How kind and helpful they are and if someone stumbled upon it- everybody would be cruel and selfish.".
Mr. Jones looked slightly out of breath, but had an excited feeling to him. Like he loved to talk about crazy gems to kidnapped teenagers.
"Ok." said Scarlett, leaning forward in her chair, "Lets say we believe you, even though I don't, what are we doing here and give us proof that you're not lying".
I agreed entirely.
"Well then" started Mr. Jones "Is it not obvious that you two are the new generation of Elements?".
Scarlett and I both wore faces of shock.
"Now, for the proof. Let me get Zoe." He said.
Mr. Jones got up and went out of the room.
A few moments later, he returned with Zoe.
"Zoe, why don't you show them a 'trick' of yours?" suggested Mr. Jones.
The way Mr. Jones quoted tricks made me know it wasn't a simple magic trick.
Zoe gave a nod. She stood against one of the walls. At first she looked like she was concentrating on the wall in front of her. Then the air around her turned into water, but instead of falling to the ground, it floated. Then the water froze and turned into ice. The ice then formed into two deadly, sharp icicles. When it stopped forming, Zoe gripped both of them in her hands and hurled them at the opposite wall. They lodged themselves between two books.
Scarlett and I both wore looks of disbelief.
"We're going to do that" I managed to stutter out.
"Well, not exactly, depending on what your Element is. Zoe, here is the Water Element which is why she manipulated the moisture around her into water and ice." said Mr. Jones as if it was very normal.
Before anyone can say anything else, there was a great BANG!
