Life Love LostA Poem by Robert AitkenThe poem “Life Love Lost” is about two people who are very intimately linked, but have never meet. They have corresponded as pen-pals for many years with each expressing their undying emotional love.Life Love Lost
He sees the world growing dark and dim He knows that his life journey will end Soon to begin that greatest of journeys Alone in this as in the next He sees her eyes of his lost love The ones he held so dear and could not
touch Distance held them apart But words could not He feels the caress of her tender lips Those that he could but not touch He feels the warm of her hand in his That which he could not hold But she does not feel the fading warm
of his So near and yet so far Is but the life love lost? She does hear his parting words Whispered, trembling and low I love you, I always will He drifts away to start The greatest journey yet Knowing that one day The love that life has lost Will be there His lost love far away Sheds a silent tear For her lost love © 2017 Robert Aitken |
