Hiding our faces, we choose who we are; living the lies, stricken so far. We know not of what is to come- a lowly burn from a shallow numb.
Masquerade By: Adam M. Snow
Hiding our faces, we choose who we are; living the lies, stricken so far. We know not of what is to come- a lowly burn from a shallow numb. We dance around this world so dark, living now these lives embark. We hide our face with the mask we wear, afraid of life and unaware of the melody life can bring and the joy of newborn spring. Why must we hide from ourselves; driven into grave delves? But what do we hide from, that or less to come; misery or love or life alone? As common as it is unknown. Why must we hide? If not we feel it inside from truth of thousand lies; we hide our soul our eyes.
Beautiful, so raw and true. For what ever the reason our masks are in place, there is one common denominator...fear. There is not enough air to beathe behind such masks, dulling our senses. The last verse was to be held most high, for the beauty so unknown is so terribly sad to miss. Lovely, lovely write!
Very nice. I love the whole masquerade scene and masks. I like how you wrote this part here:
"We hide our face with the mask we wear,
afraid of life and unaware
of the melody life can bring
and the joy of newborn spring."
I like the logic of this poem. Most people are masquerading around today. Everybody want too much and few see the world with real eyes and goals.
"But what do we hide from,
that or less to come;
misery or love or life alone?"
Thank you for the excellent poem.

I just love the part that says what the do we hide from that or less to come misery or love or let alone. Well done with this poem for I love mascurdes as you can find so much depth if meaning in them anyways well done with the writing and keep up the work with descrpitions and all.
Yet we can never hide from ourselves, we are our own keeper and sometimes tormentor, so many hide behind a false portrayal fearing rejection or ridicule from those whom never take the time to learn to know the real person within. I love the passion of this piece pushing forward this idea. maybe if people did stop and take a moment to share a little of anothers company they would possibly find not a stranger but a new friend. Keep em' coming
When I read this, I don't know whether to love a masquerade or hate it. All I can say is this: Very, very true. You've captured the true nature of our human society. And it makes me depressed. So sad, but true.
