I'm looking back when you were here when you showed me, there's none to fear. Now you’re gone, I feel lost and alone. You’re with God, standing at his throne.
I wrote this on the 6 month anniversary of my dad's death and ever since then, I've been looking back when he was here...He died December of 2009, this poem is for him
Looking Back By: Adam M. Snow
I'm looking back when you were here when you showed me, there's none to fear. Now you’re gone, I feel lost and alone. You’re with God, standing at his throne.
I'm looking back at the times we've shared; All those times we laughed and cared. Now you're gone like yesterday, I find myself wishing, you were here to stay. It feels like a dream, you not here with me; you’re with God, that I see.
I'm looking back when you were here when you showed me, there's none to fear. Now you're gone, yet I still mourn; I remember your smile that never scorn.
I'm looking back now and again to those times we joked back then. It’s emptiness I feel without you; I know you loved me too. I thank God for those memories of you and I; still I can’t help myself but to cry.
I wrote this on the 6 month anniversary of my dad's death and ever since then, I've been looking back when he was here...this poem is for him.... If you want to know, it was cancer that claimed him.

I understand the poem. I called my father every Friday for 20 years. He been gone since 1996. 8 o'clock on Friday. I still wish to hear his voice. We need to remember our elders. The good people who loved us in good and bad times. Thank you for sharing the poem. Your father would be honored you are thinking of him.

How heartbreaking to read about this fundamentally life altering loss, I am so sorry to read about your loss. But you have done him a lovely justice, may you both be at peace.
I can't relate to losing a parent, I am an orphan. But I can relate to cancer and the pain it brings, because I am in the middle of a battle with it. All I can say my friend, is that I am sorry for your loss. This write is emotional and powerful, I can sense your pain, I can feel your loss yet I can see you are grateful to have had such a wonderful father in your life. A well penned piece, thank you for sharing it's beauty with me. All the best, Cairo.
Cancer. The ugly dragon of our times that claims so many. A wonderful write about your feelings for your father. I've lost both my parents now, and it's been 30 years since Mom died. I still miss her, and think about her cooking, her laugh. It will always be part of me.

Beautiful memorial. It was a really touching portrait of your relationship with your dad. I liked the way you repeated "I'm looking back before each sections of lines. It kinda placed the reader in your mind. Great job Adam :).
