The Prayer of Man

The Prayer of Man

A Poem by Adam M. Snow
"

This is for all you hard working men out there, who is carrying your family on your shoulders. You are not alone.

"
This poem is for all men who are struggling with themselves, who feel like they are failing their family. You are not alone and suicide should never be an option. It's ok if you're going through a storm. Just know there's a savior who can help you through it all. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Be strong my fellow men, our family depends on us.

The Prayer of Man
Written by Adam M. Snow

Lord, what's going on with my life?
I'm all screwed up, got nothing but strife.
It feels like I'm losing this fight,
nothing seems to be going right.

I'm striving to succeed, got my family beside me.
I'm doing all that I can, it doesn't seem enough.
I've got the enemy screaming in my head,
it's getting harder to call his bluff.

Lord, I'm at a breaking point, I don't know where I'm going.
You said to leave it all in Your hands,
You are the almighty, all knowing, omnipotent God.
I'm amazed that You still call me Yours, even though I'm a fraud.

I've lied to my family, my wife and friends,
telling them I was okay, everything's fine, but it was all pretend.
But the truth is, I'm broken, I'm a mess, I'm stressed;
I don't know where I'm going. Please tell me, is this a test?

Are You testing my faith, testing me?
What could this be?
Why can't I see past all my worries and troubles?
Why does it feel like a never-ending struggle?

I've got my wife to encourage me, she thinks everything is fine.
I try and I try to surpass, but nowhere am I near the finish line.
I see the look in my children's eyes,
I feel like they can see through my disguise.
I make promises that I cannot keep and society tells me not to weep.

They say men are strong, they do not cry.
We're supposed to bottle our emotions. I don't know why?
If I did that, I would feel alone,
like the weight of the world encasing my heart in stone.

I want to express what I'm going through.
Lord, I'm afraid, I'm weak. Father God, I need You!
I've fallen from the weight of my cross, Lord please take it from me.
Help me to my feet, so I can be strong for my family.

They need me now more than ever,
Lord, I refuse to be a failure.
Give me the strength I need to carry on;
through my night and into the dawn.

Because every moment seems heavier than the last.
I don't know if You've noticed, but this life is going way too fast.
I'm afraid if I fall, my family will fall with me.
Lord, please don't let that be, but instead fill me with Your glory,
so I can rise up and fight through all our worries.
Let no storm rages for You are writing my story.

Father, I cannot do this on my own.
Lord, please save my home.
If my home were to burn, God let it burn for you.
Build my family up; Lord, let this be our breakthrough.

Help me be the best father I can be for my children.
Keep me strong, I don't want to fail them.
They deserve the best, that's who I want to be.
Not this failure of a man, that's just not me.

I know You're with me every step of the way,
guiding my steps, Lord, I will not stray.
I will be the best husband and father I can be.
I will cross the finish line, you'll see.

Because Lord, as long as you are by my side,
and my actions speaks dignified;
my family and I will not fall,
Lord, from here on out, I give you my all.

I am sorry I can not comment, the Irish Catholic in me can not presume.

With Him, all things are possible. Without Him, nothing is possible. When a flower is taken from the sun it straightway begins to droop and wilt because it has been removed from the source of its nourishment. Men are likewise with their Creator. I enjoyed the read.

Hello Adam. I do a similar prayer myself.
"I know You're with me every step of the way,
guiding my steps, Lord, I will not stray.
I will be the best husband and father I can be.
I will cross the finish line, you'll see."
The above lines. We must do. When we learn, we don't walk alone. We had gained wisdom and thank you for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.
