Wasted Youth

Wasted Youth

A Poem by Akira Kodama
"

Angst, angst, angst...

"
Where is the lust for knowledge?
Where is the rampant desire for just rebellion?

Peer majority, no peers at all

Conform, inform, sellout, lie
Noble savage? They don't have the time.

Ordered and pushed, against desire
Intelligence, seemingly scarce.

What has happened to Generation X?

Generation X is on extended welfare and unemployment. Look at the eyes of the people around you. Like trained animals not seeking any kind of peace or redemption. This is good poetry. I like poetry that ask questions. This poem did. Thank you for the outstanding poetry and thoughts.

when i was in college there was angst...we spoke out, protested, cared...

lots of apathy now...as that song said.."where have all the flowers gone?"

where is the idealism? youth more or less wasted...it seems.

really good tight piece...less is more..and this is impactful in its brevity..and demands the reader to think.

Good commentary and good question. Watch idiocracy, it exposes conforming to stupidity.

This writing reminds of Paul Wellers lyrics in many of his songs - I hope you don't mind that comparison BMC, he is an idol of mines.

I get where you're coming from BMC. Each to their own as they say, my friend.
"Ordered and pushed, against desire" in my experience this is what has happened. I remember in high school I was so willing to fight social norms... now I just want to make sure the bills get paid.

Youth is a luxury as well as the angst that comes with it. We live in a world where we have every right to be mad, and the fact that we aren't shows just how repressed we become when we take on more and more responsibility.

Great energy, great message.
