One last sigh

One last sigh

A Poem by Smriti Shandil
"

When my angel left...

"
One last time you sat with me,
One last time you showed me your love.
One last time you let me love you,
One last time;
With those feeble legs, you walked towards me,
Your legs shook; your body shivered, yet firmly you walked towards me.
I never thought that would be your last walk.
One last time you lay near me,
Before the agony took over.
One last time I lissed the distress,
One last time you were in throes.
One last time I was helpless,
One last time I stood there weeping.
And, with that one last sigh,
Your soul weeped out..
Out of your body, out of my life.
I was happy to see your misery die,
But I wept,
I wept out of my wits!
I screamed I cried throes of passion all over my existence,
I wept till my eyes were dry,
My lips parched,
My face inflamed.
I never saw it coming old friend,
All that time,
I never even knew!
Until it happened,
Until you left me,
Until I was deserted.
I never knew, not a clue,
I never knew- it was the last time, never knew it was the last sigh.
