If I'm Gone Too Long

If I'm Gone Too Long

A Poem by Melanie Langlois
"

A Touching Poem, one my mom liked the best

"

If I’m gone too long, please play the music loud until I can hear it.

If I’m gone too long, keep telling the same old stories over and over.

If I’m gone too long, keep the porch light on even in daylight.

If I’m gone too long, make sure the cat is fed and the dog is put out.

If I’m gone too long, don’t shun away from my friends by not telling them why.

If I’m gone too long, don’t lose my page in my favorite book.

If I’m gone too long, dance with another but don’t let it get too serious.

If I’m gone too long, make mention of me often at the local grocer, he’ll understand.

If I’m gone too long, keep looking for me, I will be back.

If I’m gone too long, whisper my name often, so I know you are really waiting.

If I’m gone too long, say a prayer in your heart, tell yourself you are only dreaming, and know, somewhere, I am whispering your name too.

I read the first two lines and already felt this was about someone speaking of their possible, eventual passing.
It is very nostalgic, the feeling of what it is about pervades it.
I'm glad you said, "keep looking for me, I will be back"
The last lines are very nice
