Rippling Reflections

Rippling Reflections

A Poem by Becca
"

Written in 1992 for my daughter

"

Come sit upon this lily pad,

said Frogette to me.

We’ll gaze into the water

at life’s deep mysteries

Let’s watch the gentle ripples

sacred circles round about

The same way our Creator

moves us from within to out

Hold my hand, let’s take a swim

if you are so inclined

My pond holds many keys of life

from the Great Divine.

So we dove into green algae

to see what we could find

Gliding through calm water

we found a cove to dine

As the power of His current

pulled us steadily along

Over in the distance

we could hear the Water Song

Suddenly we heard a roaring

and the wild swishy swish

Frogette yelled Hurry !Hurry!

lets turn into flying fish

Glad I listened to her

and followed what she did

I felt my scales a growin’

as we slipped and slid

Tumbling down a waterfall

I heard her gentle call

Look to your own reflection

we’re not different after all

When I float upon a lily pad

just as tranquil as can be

My heart drifts back to the day

Frogette shared herself with me

Oh I love this!

What a wonderful story you've created you've created with this poem (do you understand that?!) and the metre's so easy and fine. It's like seeing a beautifully painted strip cartoon of the very best kind.. it goes from one picture to another and another ... The strongest, most sincere element is that of the Creator, there's true delight and devotion in your words.

This is racing into Favourites. THANK YOU for sharing.

Now I REALLY feel sad that I accidentally stepped on a frog while walking my dog at 5am on Monday. Did I mention that it actually went CRUNCH? I am so going to Hell now.
In other news...I really liked your poem!

This was wonderful! Sounds like a bedtime poem.

Nice imagery as well. The character of frogette is brilliant as is the message that the entire piece carries...

There were 2 lines that could be reworded, but that is nitpicking. Great job firend!

What fun way to encourage a childs creative mind. It's fun and entertaining for the adults too. I really enjoyed being shown around by Frogette and seeing the world from her perspective and then the reminder that we are all more alike than different.

you know your way through words, imagery, and how it imparts an amazing insight.

This is one of the best pieces I have read.

And your fundamentals, like in your other pieces, are wonderful.

A wonderful piece.
