From the L filesA Poem by SmittyJasL stands for LoveThis is from my L files Where do I begin to tell the true story of love When fall had ended and winter had fallen in we shared a two bedroom apartment On 37 street and vine Sometimes we didn't have enough To pay the rent or have food enough to eat We lived off love and Two odd jobs It was the winter of 1997 Right before our divorce was final We had our problems they were many She had another friend going steady for me I wasn't ready She didn't want to tell me goodbye I could see the split in her eyes Jobs were few and far behind the bills were many and we were over the hill The bill collectors were getting mean I went into a whole new line of work It was the worst time to try that No respect did I get for doing just that A poor man's way of getting lesser pay Not really worrying just where he is going to stay His Old Lady just told him to hit the road Take a walk don't come back the locks will be changed You have been moved out I have beaten you down and out I got a rich guy to replace you I don't need you no more So I said these last words to her When hell freezes over I'll talk to you then You played your cards and held your aces and derailed my train I have egg on my face with nothing to gain
