Twenty years Ago

If Only we Met

Our loving should of started twenty years ago

When we were in our youth

Back when we would of known the truth

About life and love complete

I feel we missed the train the boat the plane

twenty years gone by

But now we meet for the first time

A real crime wasted time

We walked throughout life blind

For at least twenty years

before that we would of been to young to handle

Our love affair We could of been in our early Twenties

And shared a lot of money

Went to a lot of parties

But we missed out twenty years ago

We missed the even flow

Twenty years has gone by

Time is not on our side

I won't have you by my side

As we grow old and gray

God had chosen to take you 

Early in this game of life

I used to pray about it

But I didn't have a say in it

It's those twenty years of our youth well wasted

I thank God for the past five years we spent together

remembering the good times we had

Made my life better not so bad

I learned to love you better

Caring Sharing kind of love

From heaven above

When God Sent me you

But just for this little while

Right before you got ill

I think about you still

Now that you're in the beyond

And you been gone

My love for you is still strong

You were a woman of great heart

Kept me laughing with your wits

Even when we thought life gave us the pits

you lifted my eyes and showed me the way

With a smile on your face and a hidden heavy heart

You said your love for me was stronger than an ox

Yes I remember all the good times we had

The bad times are wiped away in the dust

You reminded me those first twenty years

really didn't matter much

We saved the best for last

Then you laughed and said our goodbyes

Then God's angel came to take you home

now Jesus has you and you are waiting for me to join you.
