Lets got steady like steady couples do

way back when I wore your High School Ring

Around my finger a going steady kind of gesture

Some put it on a chain and wore it around their necks

And said I'm in love what the heck

Lets go steady for a while see where it leads us

down the path to true love always and forevermore

Her eyes lite up when he offered her his ring

It means love to her heart in a serious way

She was looking at this man for the first time

as Husband material for the future of family

She deep down thinks he's the one

The only one she sees her self with having fun

Call it fate call it love call it whatever you like

She took him seriously and now on they were a couple

When she was he was they shared a life together

they became each others best friend

Soul mates on the mend From friends to lovers

Spending more time together than could be expected

She wanted a good impression for her mother and her father

It was arranged to come to dinner one Sunday afternoon

He dressed in his favorite suit and put his game face on

he had known first impressions were going to last a lifetime

For love to blossom and the family approval

Boyfriends must pass the Sunday afternoon test

Was he good enough for his daughter

Could he stand up to the pressure of first impressions

Love was to blossom that early day in May

First Sunday in May Mother's day

No pressure was applied he took it in stride

Mother fell in love with his charms and they all got along
