Dragoon's Musket Shot

Dragoon's Musket Shot

A Poem by Andromeda
"

ehhhh, started w/ the phrase "cartoon fireworks" and went from there

"

It lit up the room like a firecracker cartoon:

Shards of plastic color

Spinning round and round:

Displaced pieces of balloon

And staring too long at the sun,

Burning eyeballs in high noon,

And the promise was labeled under soon,

Written in Rune, both

As real and as fake as a firecracker cartoon—

                Oh,

                But it

Lit up the room

Like dragoon’s musket shot,

Explosive bullet burning bright red, hot,

And not

And not

And not the end,

But never the beginning,

And never an Again that anyone could

Possibly defend.

Nothing but a firecracker cartoon,

Happening certainly,

But happening

Only and all

On metallic, gleaming plastic and glass

Screen that could have always been

Foreseen.
