Exodus

Exodus

A Poem by Andromeda
"

oh, nostalgia. inspired by a song that a friend of mine wrote/recorded

"

Looking out at the shore

And wondering

                What more

                What more

                What more—

And could there be?

Or is it

Or is this

All for me,

With you gone is this all for me?

With your handprint molded in—

A puzzle piece made of skin,

Never to fit again.

And perhaps that doesn’t make sense,

Perhaps it’s all a phase

Perhaps it’s just

                I don’t know

                Words

                On

                A

                Page…

But maybe.

But maybe maybe.

I’ll see you

                Coming

From the shoreline,

And I’ll feel

The change in the wind

That comes

With the return of a friend—

The one I met

In the deep part of the heart

Where beliefs blend,

Feelings mend.

And could this be the start?

And could this be the start?

And could this be the start?

                Of the return

                Of the exodus

That we promised

When my hand

Let yours

Slip

Away

To the darkness

Of the Ageless Sea.

I like a number of lines in this poem. The part about words on a page and the return to a friend spoke out to me the most.
