Rim of a Dime

Rim of a Dime

A Poem by Andromeda
"

my car really is all packed. hahahah yay college! this was sposed to be a happy poem, but it turned nostalgic and symbolic

"

My car is all packed

And I’m ready to go—

Waiting only for you to show

In the whispers of winter snow,

Like you came the first time,

When I was just a child,

And all my future spun

On the rim of a dime.

Now I would pay that

Same dime to get that moment

Back again,

Wondering

Is freezing time a sin.

And everything is packed;

Everything is ready to go,

But I’m just waiting here,

Waiting for the cool touch

Of your winter air,

Hoping perhaps you

Care enough to

Say goodbye

One final time,

For though we knew each other

Just once in this fragile life of mine,

To me you were a sign

That I would wish to see again

Before I turn myself loose

To the wisdom of the wind.

My car is all packed

And I’m ready to go—

Waiting only for you to show

In the whispers of winter snow.

This piece has a nice flow to it and rhyming scheme. The poem got deeper the second time I read it and I really love the line, "Is freezing time a sin." It is sad, but I think that without that element of sadness it wouldn't have had nearly as powerful of an effect.
And the title is perfect.

' to the wisdom of the wind', just one of many very well written verses.
