Rain on the Roof

Rain on the Roof

A Poem by Andromeda
"

kinda trite, but ohwell, it happens

"

His eyes were cotton candy blue,

And his lies—

His lies were oh, so smooth,

Like listening to rain on the roof.

And try as she could

To run away,

The hum in his voice said stay

Stay

                Stay

                                Stay forever and a day.

And try as she could

She could not get away,

For his face followed ever after her,

And his lies were all she knew,

Turning her back around

As soon as she’d left;

Rewinding the slammed door behind her

Each and every time;

Decisions

Yes or no

Spinning on a dime,

Painted a shade of cotton candy blue.

I found no triteness, only honesty.

'His lies were oh, so smooth,
Like listening to rain on the roof.'

I love the "cotton candy blue" line. The poem really flows together nicely.

I am so glad I found your writing here! It is a joy to read. Thank you. This is a poem well done-and I can almost FEEL the color of his eyes!
