Laughing Colored Dye

Laughing Colored Dye

A Poem by Andromeda
"

memories

"

It’s in the way the shadows cry,

The way the sun

Smiling as it hits

The window

                Never ceases to lie,

As I hear the words

Overandover

A repeated hand over hand over hand in the sky turning the wheel as the days inch by

As I hear the words

You promised I would never have to hear;

The words you promised me in laughter and

                Laughing colored dye

                On hands painted by the summer shirts we make;

You promised me I would never have to hear,

But echoes overandover

Repeated hand over hand,          days inch by,

And you—

You after every one

Still lie

Six feet below where the grass

Smiles at the sky.

I’m reminded when I see the shadows cry,

And then

I’m reminded

That you would tell me

That my smiles should not be shy,

And I

Too

Do not need to lie

Six feet below

(Though In my own head),

Watching my life Inch by

Watching shadows cry.
