Shadows Blend

Shadows Blend

A Poem by Andromeda

Friendship is

                Holding hands,

                While taking pictures

                Of the way our shadows

Blend,

Like memories

Painted on the mind.

And even the Whisper of

Autumn winds—

When we are separated,

Shadows concealed by the clouds—

Even the chill rumor of winter

                Cannot

                Freeze, blow away

The moment—

                And all moments

                Are eternal

                In some way or another.

                And all Friendships

                Such as ours

                Can never be broken,

                Nor forgotten—

The Innocent Wisdom of eighteen years

Has made me realize that

Friendships are not such things

That can burst or blow away

Like birthday balloons lost to the sun;

Nor can they shrivel and dry to dust,

Turn and rust, or like a hole in hose run.

No, Friendships stay somewhere in the heart,

And neither life nor death can tear apart

Our holding hands

And taking pictures

Of the way our

                Shadows              Blend,

With laughter Evermore triumping over

The devious schill of the wind.

I agree. I love the pictures that you bring up; those little fun moments that friendship is made of.
