Downfall

Downfall

A Poem by Andromeda
"

another sketch for 'Ivory Bars'

"

Music was her downfall

Music was what

Climbed up the walls

Of her soul

And burrowed in

Waiting

Waiting

Shallow din

Death to the men

Who locked her here,

Within her music—

Nothing but

Revenge to hear.

Music is what scrapes upon the walls—

The shadows in the halls

The man who calls and calls and calls

In broken voice against the bars on her walls.

Can you hear me,

He asks,

Can you hear me?

Through these walls?

Music was her downfall

Music was what

Climbed under the bars

And led her up, up, up

To the stars

Music was the man who

Silenced the waiting within

Tuned out the shallow din

Death for the man

Death for the man,

She would gladly have,

Who saved her here—

Him her music

Nothing but his words

On the other side of the wall

Nothing but

Him to hear:

Her revenge’s downfall.
