The Love that Could Never Be

The Love that Could Never Be

A Poem by Andromeda
"

depressing love poem...hahah

"

You were the shadow that walked the daylight—

The only one I knew,

The only one I dared to know.

And you knew me too—

Knew me as the cloud that darkened the sunny day,

The early winter chill that pushed the summer away.

Perhaps we belonged together,

            You and I,

Or perhaps we belonged

Far apart,

Like butterflies pierced behind a

Dapper veil of glass,

Longing to fly,

But wings now pinned up high,

Wishing nothing had to die.

I run your number through my head,

Run my fingers along the locket on my neck,

Call everyone but you and

Pull the necklace from my neck instead.

If I go back to you,

            Or you back to me,

We’ll both be too much night—

            Blind the light of day

            Too dark to see.
