Desk

Desk

A Poem by Andromeda
"

for school...prose poem?

"

She had possibly the most cluttered desk in the city—or perhaps the world.  Yet, it was also a very

Bipolar desk as well.

There was, retired from its endless days of pointless miles in her purse, a Kakuro book, with only one puzzle completed.  The puzzles had

Overcome her the day after she bought

Them at the bookstore—for three dollars on the clearance rack.  There were scissors on her desk as well (of course there were scissors, no desk was complete without a pair).  But this pair—child-sized and bright pink—

Was over-used and served simply to

Increase her supply of random junk.  There were two—or three perhaps—handfuls of figurines also; some had been found in the far corners of her room and others in the distant concrete realms beyond her door.  All of these rested

On an autumn-leaf pile of papers

That she had folded and saved

Compulsively.

Somewhere in these papers

Lurked

Her mind.
