Splinters

Splinters

A Poem by Andromeda
"

free verse-ish. not really any rhythm, just playing around w/ an idea

"

Splinters were

The menders that

Brought them back

To each other,

Under the

Bright, motherly light

Of the kitchen lamp.

Splinters were

The smallest problems

That sat him in his child’s chair

And her in her duty

To nurture and to care.

Splinters in their house

Were not just specks of wood,

But also

The tears he brought home

From the bullies

At school—

And when he got older,

The girl-problems and

Close to breaking dreams.

When she got sick,

That was a splinter too:

A splinter that swapped their seats for a while,

But

They made do.

Splinters were

The mentors that

Brought them both back,

Kept them both on track.

This is really beautiful. Yeah, another stanza would be nice...just so we could read more. :) I really liked it though.

Hmmm... I think maybe you should. I like it the way it is though as well, so I have no idea. I like them though, and I want to find out more, so I suppose that's the real reason I want another stanza.
