Goodbye

Goodbye

A Poem by Andromeda

I wasn’t going to write this—

I’m not going to lie—

But I knew I had to do this:

A poem to say goodbye.

If I had one wish

It would be...

Not that I never met you but

That I didn’t have to let you

Leave.

These weeks I wish I could

Freeze,

But I know I have to let you

leave.

Don’t ask why and,

Though I know you’ll cry,

Know that this was not all

Just a lie.

I wish I could stop you

As you slam the door,

Wish I could follow you—

To the ends of the Earth and more.

But you’ll come back

To this empty place

And this last thing—

It was not all a waste.

I can say no more but

This:

A poem to say goodbye.

Andromeda
this definitely needs a better title.

I cannot think of a better title. "A poem to say goodbye" is really pretty. I like this.
