Haunted House

Haunted House

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...?

"

There is an old house

On the corner where Wolfe Lane and Elm meet.

It is an old house:

One that could be purchased for a penny and a soul

In any mystery story.

There is an old house

With a black steel fence

And a fearsome set of

Gray-furred and scrubby hounds.

There is an old house

It breathes an old stench and

Growls in the night

To warn the children away.

The windows are all glued down with

Dusty black drapes and

The door is opened only to let out the hounds.

There is an old house

And they say it is haunted,

Haunted by the widow of

An old sailor who got what he deserved

On the stormy sea.

There is an old house

And

Inside

There lives

Only me.

first off, wow, no formatting. i haven't read one of yours without that yet, haha. this still however has your voice in it, so it hasn't lost that. it tells a story, and although each house is different, i feel they're related, entwined together.

i don't know if you meant to do this either, but i like how each stanza gets shorter, until there is only one thing left to say. and thats how it simply is.

But I like it! I like that it seems like there's going to be an old house, probably abandoned or something. Or maybe a crazy person. It seems like it's going to be third person, but then bang. Keep the end, I like it.
