Maybe Forever

Maybe Forever

Summer Love always lasts

Forever?

I chewed my gum until the flavor went dead—

Thinking of you.

I guess all good things must

End.

I run and run on a road that seems to have no

End;

That summer seems so long—

Too long— ago:

Much like a dream that does when you

Just wake

Up.

(Whenever you slept on my shoulder you always woke up with a yawn and a smile)

I crunch on the straw of my long-empty coke.

You seem like a ghost;

You’re too far gone—

Or maybe that’s me.

You left me when the summer

Ended.

And now

It’s summer

Again

And I want...

You...

To hold...

My hand.
