Growing Up

Growing Up

A Poem by Andromeda
"

idk

"

Puzzle pipes

Of water slides

And

Mid-afternoon

Piggyback rides

Sprinkler summers and

Popsicles in the pool and

Challenges to duel

With plastic swords and

Hot pink jump rope cords and

Living in a

Snow globe

Chasing Cars and

Loving rock and roll

Saying the words

Like a chorus

Without knowing what they

Mean

Tiny dancer in my hand

Germs, germs, germs

At water slides

And

Late-night

Back aches

Sweltering summers and

Don’t put the dog in the pool!  And

You know the rule!

And thank the Lord and

Don’t say you’re bored and

The walls are broken

And you’ve

Broken free

All The Small Things and

Seeing the rain on a sunny day

Saying the words

Like a chant

Without knowing what they

Mean

Jesus freaks in the streets

Handing tickets out

For Gold

Hold me closer, Tiny Dancer

Had a

Busy

Day Today
