Great-Grandma

Great-Grandma

A Poem by Andromeda
"

Glamorous:
The way her dress swishes to and fro
As she dances
In heels of gold
Adorning feet that ought to be too old.
Great-grandma belongs in the forgotten days,
When men always wore suits
And women smiles.
The wrinkles in her face
Mark a century of grace;
There is an unabashed beauty in her diamond eyes
And the way her dress hangs loosely on velvet skin.
She says she can see herself in me
As she dances on my wedding day.
She says I will be her a hundred years from now:
That she will live on in my smile.
She’s hooked up to a tube and the sweetness in her eyes
Would make me cry,
But I myself believe
That she will never die.
