Rubber Sole

Rubber Sole

A Poem by Andromeda
"

silly

"

Pardon me, Sir,

But

I think

You just stepped on my heart.

No,

No,

No,

It’s okay.

It’s already got

Footprints all over it—

What’s another one?

Another

Red dirt-stained,

Gum-encrusted,

Acid rain-washed,

Tire mark-leaving

Footprint More?

It’s just another mark from

Another rubber sole.

And it’s not like it

Hurt

Or anything.

I’m used to it—

Just so long as you

Don’t

Step on my

Feet
