Dream

an older poem

Do you have a dream?  Like a seriously big dream? 
One of those that you look at and you say "Oh, that's what I want."  One of those that you know every little niche of, that you can name off piece by piece as though you've already lived it...and you have- a million times actually, but only in your mind? 
Do you have one of those?  The ones that quicken your heart just a little bit and put that smile on your face that will never go away, the ones that make you so happy that all you can do is try to comprehend just how...
utterly perfect? 
The ones that people can diminish over and over with their words, but will never be dulled in your mind? 
The ones that are bright as a shooting star,
Beautiful as candlelight,
And perfect as life itself? 
You know, the ones that they say are impractical, unattainable, impossible-
But what do they know. 
One of those? 
Have you ever had a dream?  One of those glass dreams that fit so perfectly on your wall? 
One of those that you hesitate to share because it's so close to your heart and you wouldn't dare take the risk of letting it out into the air, of getting it tarnished?  
A fuel for the soul kind of dream- the kind that is your blanket in the cold and your light when all is dark? 
One of those magical ones that will certainly happen
Because the world is not so cruel that it would break your heart,
And magic happens, does it not? 
One of those?
