Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...

"

As a boy he used to go to the baseball games

            Just for the cotton candy.

Liked the way it tickled,

Dissolved away on his tongue.

Used to try to make it last longer

By sticking his tongue out,

By making silly faces—

Like a clown, but

He was young enough to get away with it.

He liked the blue kind the best,

But the pink wasn’t far off—

Most of all,

He just

            Loved

The way that it stuck to his lips

Like little grains of sugared sand—

Wind blowing on a beach full of sugared sand.

It was magic,

And sweet magic too—

The best kind.

He even

            Caught a baseball once.
