Classic Rock

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...

"

Sing to me of

Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

And pretend

That we are so pleasantly trapped

In the future-hungry past.

Sing to me of

            Landslides

Tearing our childhood away

And shredding all the dreams

That got us through that twenty-year-long day.

Sing to me of Landslides

And make it stay—

Make it stay.

Sing to me of

            Rock and roll—

Sing to me sweet melody,

            Piano Man,

And make me

            Drift Away.

Don’t take me home,

No,

            Don’t do me Like That,

Not until

            I’m a Believer

Once again.

Sing to me,

Take me back,

My       Piano Man,

To when my eyes last smiled and the

Sun last shined in mockingly tangible colors,

Magically neon colors.

Return me, please,

To

            Seven Bridges Road.
