Car Alarm

Car Alarm

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...

"

She cries

In the sound of a car alarm:

Blaring out-of-sight, but

Still so close

That her sobs are

Lost in the

Steady

Torment of the blare.

(If only her life could have been so

Steady

As that.)

The horn

Rises to a

                        Whistle

And then

The whistle

Explodes into a

                        Horn

In a vicious

Vicious

Cycle:

Sounds like a dozen bees,

A thousand angry lions,

A million

Shards of glass,

Shattering everywhere

Everyone

A slight honk

And then a thud

Inaudible over the sound of

The                  Blare.

She dies

In the sound of—

The blare of—

The dreadful

Steady

Whine of—

A car alarm

Shut off a second

Too

                                                Late.
