Airplane in the Sky

Airplane in the Sky

A Poem by Andromeda
"

...

"

Her whole world is...

Sips of hot cocoa on the porch—

The porch swing,

Swing,

Swing,

Swing-ing,

Watching her feet salute the sky—

The sky, watching for a

Big airplane—

Maybe he’ll come home someday,

With his arms filled with gifts

And his mouth filled with words of forgiveness.

But,

For today,

Someday was yesterday,

Someday was years ago,

And she really couldn’t care less—

Tells herself: she really couldn’t care less—

Because

Today is a Tuesday,

And on Tuesdays

Her world is

Hot cocoa on the

Porch swing

And the hot apple cobbler that

They serve to her on Tuesdays

(And which serves as her calendar).

Her whole world is...

Pretending she is a kid

A second time—

She is a kid with

Her feet saluting the airplane in the sky.
