Just a little

Just a little

A Poem by Stephanie

Imma wait
For the one that catches my eye
And holds it long enough before my mind reminds me, I'm just a little shy
For the one that's not afraid
of being afraid but dares to be bold anyways
Who's action speaks louder than the words telling me all the things trying to get me to sway
Imma wait
For the one who doesn't tell me to smile because I'm too pretty to frown but who's down with my scowl for just a little while before giving me a reason to un-rest my bitching face
Who's not in it to win a race but in it because they see in me a treasure, they can't replace
Imma wait
For the one who doesn't need me to tell them to have respect and dignity
Who's integrity is intact
Even when having just a little fun still knows how to act
Who practices what they preach
And who's ego is not out of reach
Imma wait
For the one who can handle my mouth, At least most of the time
Matching my wit without a hissy fit
Who fully chooses me more than now and then ..
who makes the time
Who nurtures my mind
Who walks with me side by side
Who's not afraid to tell me what in me they want to find
Who would never take advantage of my kind
Who's a friend as much as they are my lover
discovering new things about life, each other ....and things under the cover
I could go on and on
With the s**t I want to find
But I'll take my time
So All these lessons won't be in vain

So Imma wait until that day
With someone I'm at a place
Where I can fully embrace,
To give myself without feeling misplaced
While I explore
learn and grow
And get to know myself just a little more ......

Sometimes waiting for the person that feels right is important.

Ps. I remember when you read it to me a long time ago but it didn’t make as much sense then. Xo

Steph! This just hit me so hard. You are so inspiring and hit this dead on. I felt that. ❤️

Way to set high standards! I can relate to this and it was beautifully written. I especially love how you put that you want someone who doesn't tell you to smile. It always annoys me when men tell me that.

thank you! It can be annoying, I've had both men and women tell me that
