Chapter 4

I walked into the cafeteria later that day. With absolutely no where to sit, I chose an empty table in the corner of the room. At least, I thought it was empty. Until a group of students came and sat down around me.
"You're the new girl, right?" One of them, a young girl with red hair, asked me.
"Yes..." I answered hesitantly.
"Let me guess, they gave you the same schedule as that bloke over there?" One of the boys, black-haired with a few purple streaks, asked, nodding to Leo.
"Is there something wrong with that?" I demanded.
The group traded uneasy glances.
Finally, a black-haired girl spoke up. "Every new girl gets his schedule. That's why we don't get a lot. They all... Disappear. The last time a new girl joined the school was when John here was a freshman, and he's a senior now" she said, indicating a tall, bulky football player with blonde hair.
"What happens to them?" I asked, uneasily.
"We don't know. They're never heard from again" the red-head answered. "I'm Jenna, by the way"
"Sam" I answered.
"I'm Jake" the black-haired, purple-streaked boy added.
"And I'm Susan" the black-haired girl added.
"Nice to meet you all" I replied.
We ate the rest of lunch in silence.
