Chapter 6 JoeA Chapter by Manda“What’s up
dude?” Nick asked me as I sat behind the music board of the studio. I was out
of it all day. My fingers ran over the different keys as I thought about what
to say to my brother. We are family; they support me. What if I tell them about
her though? What can I say to him to make me sound less crazy? I was in love
with a dream. “Joe?” Nick asked me, he followed my stare and then looked back at me. I sighed, “Do you think I’ll ever have what Dani and Kevin have?” I asked Nick. I longed for that, just being so in love with someone. When apart Kevin and Dani are on the phone whenever Kevin wasn’t on stage. Nick sat back in his chair, his gaze never leaving me. “See, I knew something was wrong.” He smiled his signature small smile. “I think you will.” Nick said; not sounding too convinced. Nick was happier single. I was for a while. I thought I found that perfect girl with Demi, but now I’m starting to rethink everything. I finally looked back at my brother, “I like someone.” I told him. “Yeah, we all know.” He laughed. I know he thought I meant Demi, but I didn’t. He stopped laughing when he realized I wasn’t laughing along. “Joe?” He asked, staring at me confused. “You don’t mean Demi, do you?” I was correct; he did think I meant Demi. “No.” I shook my head. “Then who?” Nick sat foreword in his seat, as if he didn’t he may miss something important. “I don’t know.” I told him, and then I looked back at Kevin. He was staring at us. I smiled; he returned a smile. I could tell though his smile was a little fake only because mine was too. I watched as Kevin put his guitar down and headed for the studio door. Nick watched Kevin too, “Well. Then who is she?” “I see her in my
dreams.” I told Nick. Little did I know someone was spying on the conversation. Someone I wouldn’t want to hear about this. Someone I loved but she wasn’t the girl in the dream. She was standing at the studio door. I didn’t know then. I had to tell Nick everything though. At the time I didn’t realize Demi was there. Nick cleared his throat and then he started to speak again. “Joe, if it’s a dream then that’s all it is.” “I know.” I sighed, “But it feels so real.” Kevin then took a seat next to me. I stared at him for a few minutes then turned back to Nick. “I know that my feelings for her are real.” Nick stared at me, he was thinking about my reaction to it being just a dream. “Well then,” He started to say, “If you feel in your heart it’s real then maybe it is. Maybe she is the perfect girl for you and she is just waiting for you somewhere.” “Maybe she is your soul mate.” Kevin toned into the conversation. “Not all love stories have to be made up, you know.” Kevin smiled. “Follow your heart bro. I know it will lead you to the one you need. Just be strong and listen to your heart.” All three of us pounded our fists together. “Thanks guys.” I smiled. I don’t believe in fairy tales, but maybe I was in one with her. Maybe this is our destiny. Nick shrugged, “any time.” he smiled. Nick may have been youngest but he was certainly the leader. He was wise for his years. Kevin, who was now married, was the oldest. I was technically the middle child. I didn’t care though. My brothers, my family, they were all supportive. That’s how I knew I could talk to them about this. “So, let’s record that new song.” Nick said while clapping his heads together. He then stood up and headed to the sound room. Kevin went to the walkie-talkie and asked for the producer to head to the room. Then I stood up; I headed for the sound room when I heard someone call me, “Joe!” Said Demi, running into the room. “How are things?” “Fine.” I kissed her on the cheek. “What are you doing here?” She shrugged, “I just wanted to see my boyfriend.” She smiled. I looked up at my brothers who stared at us just blinking. We didn’t know then if she over heard what we were talking about or not. At the time I doubted she did. If she did wouldn’t she be yelling at me? “Want to go out tonight, Joe?” she asked me. “Yeah, sure.” I smiled. The producer then walked into the room. I looked up at him then to Demi, “I have to get to work. See you later.” I kissed her on the cheek but she aimed for my lips. I wasn’t up for it, so I pretended I didn’t notice. Then she left the room. “You think she heard?” Nick asked as he walked up behind me. “I don’t know, she didn’t act like she did.” I shrugged. Then I looked at my brother. “Maybe I shouldn’t lead her on… but what if my dream girl is just a dream?” Nick shrugged back, “I donno.” He said, “Maybe you should stay with Demi till you realize what to do. After all, you still love her, right?” “Of course.” I nodded a little uncertain. What was I going to do? © 2010 Manda |
