Part 1

Part 1

A Chapter by Anthony Cook

After Millennia of War with the Anti-gods the Gods were defeated. Fearing the immortal aspect of death they fled to a universe without gods to a planet called Earth.

It was another summer day in South City except for the fact that a meteor shower appeared in Earth’s Solar system that day. “Hey um.. Ashley get your head out of the clouds.” Sly said. “I’m pretty sure the park’s closed.” He took a bite of his apple. Ashley shrugged. “Yeah but we get to see the meteors tonight.” Sly tossed his apple in the trash. “Jeez I'm still hungry, why couldn’t we stop to eat?” Ashley rolled her eyes, “Sly you’re always hungry.” He groaned. “We could’ve been eating somewhere right now.” Ashley tossed him another apple. “Take the apple and stop whining, the Meteors are coming down.” They sat and watched as the meteors flew across the sky and began to disappear. Sly narrowed his eyes. “Is that it?” He said. Then two meteors flew overhead and disappeared. Sly stood up. “Wow real cool Ashley now if you excuse me I’m off to get some dinner.” He walked five paces away from Ashley and face planted in the dirt. Ashley jumped up and ran over to him but as she did she blacked out.

Ashley woke up lying face down with a duck looking at her. “QUACK!” Ashley jumped up to see a man clad in black robes. His hair was slick and drawn black like an old fashioned gangster he wore a pair of blood red sunglasses on his pale face. “Interesting a compatible human host, although I did not expect it to be female.” He waved his hand and the duck became a large black sword. “We will meet again.” he said as he tapped Ashley on the head with the blade. Suddenly sleepiness washed over her and the entire park fizzed to black.
Sly Walked around what seemed to be the park but the whole scene seemed to be on fire. "Hello?" He called. No answer, only the soft sound of the fire. "Why is everything on fire?" He asked himself. Sly smacked his palm with his fist. "The shower must have been boring so I fell asleep and now I'm dreaming." The flames to his left got brighter and out walked a man. He had stark white hair and a scruffy beard. His eyes were balls of flame. The man grunted. "Father was wrong these host are weak They will lose themselves in our power." he turned away chuckled; "No matter, this will have to do." He turned back to Sly. "I will become your subconscious and give you full control of my abilities, in exchange you will give me refuge from the Anti-gods and when the time comes you will take my place as Ares; the god of War. Do you accept mortal." Sly stood awestruck then passed out.
