Help

Help

A Story by Jesse Pruett
"

Why help?

"

"Help!" yells a man walking like the hunchback in a large crowd. He then yells "I have a knife in me, Somebody stabbed me!" and every one turns around quickly to look.

Diffusion of responsibility, the psychological effect in which everyone recognizes an emergency yet their level of personal responsibility has been dispersed among a group of people. And so we stand, and we watch, and hardly register that we have the capacity to help.

Yeah... They all turn around to look, but not to help. That's just how it is. No one cares. Atleast, most people wont.
