A Fight of Hope; A Hope of Survival

A Fight of Hope; A Hope of Survival

A Poem by SlimBizkit
"

A poem about cancer.

"
She lives.
She laughs.
She loves.

She holds the three qualities that make a happy being.

But behind the scars-
the tears.
the pain.
the hurt.

Beneath the hat
the scalp-
Pale and bald.

Yet still beautiful...so precious.

Everyday she wears a smile.
Her reddened eyes tell you to stay a while.

The I.V.s that run through her arm.
She's used to the pain-- don't be alarmed.

The permanent sick that no medicine can heal.
The wishes and desires that will never be real.

The hopes and dreams that tomorrow hold.
Where can you turn, when tomorrow may fold?
Crumble into pieces, a whole little lot.
Today she spend's hoping that's not all she's got.

Her life lives on, so does her fight.
Only the power of a cure could help her sleep tonight.

No matter the amount, everyone has time in their lives.
What counts is how you spend it.

SlimBizkit
I recently watched the movie, "My Sister's Keeper." It had an immediate effect on me, and it kept me very aware of cancerous diseases and the devastation they cause. This poem was inspired by the character, "Kate". Watch the movie, and hopefully it will make a connection with you too.
